Now that we're in so many remote meetings, how we look and how we sound are kind of important. Here are Dan's and Josh's tips on how we can look and sound really professional in all of our virtual meetings.

Use a boom arm for your microphone

Why?

Having a boom arm allows us to use a large, higher quality microphone, yet keep it out of the way when not in use. This increases our comfort, ergonomics, and even the visual appeal of our work spaces.

And then when we want to sound good and take a meeting, we can move the microphone to that special spot that lets us sound our best - to ourselves and to others.

And when we're not using it, we can swing it out of the way to make more room for other productive tasks and creativity.

Dan finds that in coworker meetings, those of us who have booms get the microphone in front of us. Those who don't use the little crappy webcam microphones that don't sound as good. And those webcam microphones are usually farther away.

If you have a nice microphone, why not use it when you're meeting with everybody?
